Structure of Formal Emails

A formal email must include the following elements :


  • your own email address  (From: klaus.rosmanitz@gmail.com)
  • email address of the recipient (To: office@google.com)
  • date (Date: Dec. 19th, 2022)
  • subject - what your email is about (Subject: Application for an Instructor's Job)
  • salutation (Dear Managing Editor, Dear Mr Smith, Dear Madam)
  • introduction (I'm writing to apply for the position of secretary in your firm)
  • main paragraphs
  • conclusion (I hope you will consider my application)
  • close ( Yours faithfully, Yours Sincerely)
