  • desolation = to be very sad because you have lost many things

  • genocide = the mass killing of a whole race or group of people

  • persecution = cruel or unfair treatment of a whole group of people, because of their religious beliefs

  • sacrificial offering = to give something to God to show you worship him 
  • scapegoat = someone you can blame for bad things that happen
